Questions and Answers

Where did the concept for ICE4Dogs come from?
My
name is Connie Perkins, I am a breeder of English Springer Spaniels and a
member of English Springer Rescue of America (ESRA). Sitting
around one day loving my dogs, I thought, "What would happen to you if all of a sudden something happened to me? Would my family really know
what to do with you guys?" I didn't want my beloved pets to end up
in a shelter (they are so full that they have a hard time getting the funds
to take care of the unwanted pets they have now) or in a home where
they would just be another mouth to feed. I had to come up with a solution
that would ensure that all loving pets had a caregiver in the case of any
emergency or even death.
Who will be contacted for my pet when there is an emergency or death that
prevents me from caring for them?
ICE4Dogs
maintains a database service where we will contact whomever you, the owner chose to be the caretaker of your pet(s) in case of an emergency. Once you
register with ICE4Dogs, you will be added to our database and your
EMERGENCY ID
KIT will be sent to you. Each home will be given an ID
number and your pet(s) will have an ID tag. ICE4Dogs will contact
the person of your choice within 24 hours from the time that we are
contacted by the emergency response team should an emergency occur. When
you register you will be asked to provide the names and numbers of two
contacts. These contact people will be your choice and it is up to you to
provide them with the necessary information for your pets in case of
emergency or death.
How will ICE4Dogs be notified of my emergency or death?
In
your packet you will be given an ID card for your wallet with your access
code, a dog tag, a crate tag and a window sticker. All of these will be
coded and have our phone number on them so that the emergency response team
can contact us. This is a 24 hour service 365 days a year. If you are a
family of multiple pets, there are dog tags (and crate tags) that are
available for a nominal fee and if you have more than one vehicle or you
would like to place the window sticker on the front door of your house, these are also available for a small charge.
What happens if ICE4Dogs can't reach the contact person within 24 hours?
ICE4Dogs will
continue to stay in contact with the emergency response team until one of
your contact people can be reached.
Where will my pet go until my contact person is reached?
Following the ID instructions, the emergency response team will notify
ICE4Dogs with the location of your pet(s). This may be a local
veterinarian, local shelter or boarding facility. Your pet will remain
there until your emergency contact arrives. Please note that ICE4Dogs
cannot be responsible for any charges that are incurred at any facility
where your pet may be taken.
What kind of pets does ICE4Dogs cover?
ICE4Dogs loves
and cares about all animals, not just dogs. Any domestic pet can be covered,
but we do exclude all exotic pets.
How do I register with ICE4Dogs?
Registering is simple and will give you peace of mind in case of any
emergency. All you have to do is fill out the registration form and send
your registration fee in via PayPal. Or you can print the registration form
and mail a check to our office. Once your registration form and
registration fee are
received your EMERGENCY ID
KIT will be mailed to you. At that time your pet(s) is
immediately covered in our database.
How much does it cost to register with ICE4Dogs?
There
is a onetime fee of $49.95 per household for your EMERGENCY ID
KIT
plus your annual fee of
$30.00. Your kit cost of $49.95 includes your personal ID card, one
dog tag, one crate tag, a window sticker and your database registration.
Your full year of coverage through ICE4Dogs is $30.00. Other dog tags, crate
tags or window stickers are available for an additional charge. Each year
your renewal fee will be $30.00; this is due prior to the anniversary of
your registration. For less than 10 cents a day you will have peace of
mind, knowing your beloved pet(s) will always be taken care of.
How many pets does this service cover?
Your
annual fee covers all your pets in our database as long as their care can be
completed per our Term and Conditions. Additional supplies (tags, cards etc.) will require
additional payment.
What if I move or need to change my contact person?
Your
annual fee covers changes in your personal details. These can be changed by
submitting them in writing along with your access code from your ID card at
anytime. Any lost ID cards or supplies will be charged accordingly per our Terms and Conditions.
